The Register reports that Firefox 4 is going flash free: Mozilla vice president of products Jay Sullivan says that unlike Google, the open source outfit has no intention of bundling Firefox with Adobe Flash – or with a plug-in that runs native code inside the browser. Mozilla believes that the future of online applications lies […]

Beta News’ Joe Wilcox is eating his words today, saying “I was wrong about Apple iPad”. He was a vocal critic of the iPad when it was announced, like most tech analysts, arguing that the world doesn’t need the iPad or any other tablet. After using it though, he’s come to a different conclusion: The […]

Flash is dead and the iPad is its tombstone – but somebody forgot to tell Pixar. Daring Fireball’s John Gruber points how the new Toy Story 3 site looks on an Apple iPad. There are lots of similar examples to be found, but this one seems particularly ironic, given Steve Jobs roles at both Apple […]

Adobe already has trouble on its hands over Apple’s decision to not support Flash on the iPhone and the iPad – and the general public’s “meh” response. Now Adobe’s got bigger Flash problems. The Open Video Alliance, which includes Mozilla, Kaltura, Miro, and Yale Law School, are joining forces to bring video to Wikipedia – […]

Adobe is going to war with Apple’s iPad, as this Adobe + HP demo video shows. Apple has demonstrated that lack of Flash support isn’t going to keep people from buying iPhones by the millions. It’s betting that the same will hold true with the iPad. The HP Slate demo is pretty slick – and […]

Flash is dead – at least at Virgin America. When the Apple iPad was introduced, we said that Flash Is Dead + The iPad Is Its Tombstone. Why? Flash is a great tool – but users and Web developers alike are better off developing standards-based content and not being locked into proprietary tools. Virgin America […]

There’s been a lot of discussion in the last week about Apple’s decision to not support Flash on the upcoming iPad. Early iPad users are going to see a lot of blue boxes, right, where their audio and video file would otherwise be. And publishers are going to have to decide if it’s worth the […]

There’s been a lot of discussion since the announcement of the Apple iPad over Apple’s decision to not include Flash support on the device. Apple hasn’t officially explained its decision – but it’s clear that the company wants to marginalize Flash and push a standards-based Web. Within Apple, though, Steve Jobs minces no words about […]
