Wizzard Media Expands iPhone App Promotion In Podcasts
Jul 24th, 2009 | By James Lewin | Category: Making Money with Podcasts, Podcasting NetworksPodcasting network Wizzard Media is expanding it program to promote iPhone apps in podcasts with the acquisition of distribution rights to three new iPhone apps: Word Party, Dietician and Yo Mama.
Wizzard plans to continue to acquire the rights for up to 100 already launched and approved iPhone Apps to provide podcast producers with a continuous stream of relevant, paid advertising for their episodic shows, provide app developers with increased sales revenues and provide for profitable App sales for Wizzard.
What is the business model behind this.
iPhone App = .99 cents
iTunes Store takes .30 cents
This leaves .69 cents for distribution minus app upkeep overhead.
Being Wizzard does a 50/50 split with podcasters, a podcaster will get paid .35 cents at most on a single iPhone application sale. The majority of the apps they have purchased have dozens of competitors, in many cases a free app is available as well to compete.
How is a podcaster supposed to make any money on this? If they think this is going to dig them out of the deep hole they are in the are fools.
What deep hole? They continue to grow rapidly and they realize it takes several years to build an industry. It is silly to think this could all be done sooner than 3 years. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a moron.
