CES: Belkin has introduced the Belkin Podcast Studio – a $100 accessory that basically turns your iPod into a mini podcasting studio – just add a mic.
Dual XLR and 1/4-inch channels give you a range of recording options. The Podcast Studio has a built-in mic and speaker are powered by their own battery, so you won’t kill your iPod battery instantaneously.
Belkin expects to ship this in June.
Nice, I was wondering when someone was finally going to come out with this!
They also have a 4-channel TuneStudio for $180

Another manufacturer just came out with a mixer-equipped iPod dock, forgot who now.
[…] So, now I’m becoming a Macboy I tend to read some of their fansites.¬† Sometimes it’s gut-wrenchingly cringeworthy, the level of simpering loyalty that people have for their computer (it’s a MACHINE, FGS) and it’s creators, but I’ve found some useful stuff (no cure for mouse stutter yet though except the Mac equivalent of a ctrl-alt-del).¬† This is my favourite so far – a Podcasting Studio for the iPod.¬† Oops, checking again reveals that this isn’t a Mac Fanzine site, but Podcasting News.¬† This might just see me buying an iPod, but really I wanted one of those nifty iTouch jobbies.¬† Bet it doesn’t work with one of those. Just released : Alesis announced the new ProTrack iPod recording system. Turn your iPod into a stereo recording system. It features built-in dual XY patteren mics, dual XLR & 1/4″ mic inputs as well as level meters. Just slide your iPod into this niffty little iPod holder and you’re off and running. Use either an included AC power adapter or AAA batteries, so that it will not use your iPod internal battery. I seen this at http://www.kingdom.com for about $199.00. Kinda pricey, but when you consider being able to use your iPod that has upwards around 160GB of HD space, it very well could be worth it.
