There’s a lot of speculation about what’s coming tomorrow from Apple. It certain that new iPods on the plate, but beyond that, sites are¬†taking educated guesses (aka, making stuff up).

Here are the top 5¬†new iPod predictions we’ve seen:

Radio iPods – this is the least interesting of the predictions. The new iPods will be able to receive digital radio, and will include a ‘buy-now’ function to allow the user to download and buy tracks as they are being played. vnunet

Touchscreen iPod – Apple will introduce an iPod that borrows the touchscreen interface from the iPhone, but leaves off the phone features. Think Secret.

Enterprise iPhone – Apple might start making enterprise-class iPhones or incorporate more enterprise-friendly features into existing models. Gartner

iPod shuffle with screen – The shuffle is getting competition at the low end from players with tiny screens. ITWire

iPhone nano – a cheaper, smaller version of the smartphone killer. Bloggingstocks

Safer predictions include a 16GB nano.

Here’s what we’d like to see…..

• Entry-level iPhone – The iPhone is doing well, but clearly not as well as Apple had hoped. (Remember the availability checker at the Apple site?) The $500 sticker price is keeping hoards away, and limiting the development of the iPhone platform.
• More useful WiFi features for the iPhone and for iPods, too. This may require breaking a few laws of physics, or at least some energy-saving magic, but we’d like an iPod/iPhone that syncs directly to the Internet when it can. It would be nice to be able to browse and discover new podcasts via the iPod/iPhone, too.
• An iPhone keyboard accessory – is it too much to ask? The iPhone could¬†work as a desktop replacement with the addition of a decent keyboard.
• Media authoring features – Apple’s missing an opportunity to turn iPods & iPhones into content creation platforms. User-generated media is the rage, but everytime Griffin or Belkin intros an iPod microphone, Apple changes the iPod design. Why can’t you record a podcast with your iPod and iPhone, and sync it to the Internet?
