SplashCast Upgrades Media Player
Aug 30th, 2007 | By James Lewin | Category: Internet TV, Podcasting ServicesSplashCast has updated its embeddable media player. The SplashCast service lets you create streaming media ‘channels’ that mix together video, music, photos, narration, text, as well as RSS feeds, PowerPoint presentations and PDF documents.
“We‚Äôre really excited about all the changes we‚Äôve made,” said SplashCast’s Marshall Kirkpatrick, “We believe that our new player scores super high in both feature richness and accessibility.”
Here are the highlights of the new version:
- Item level navigation, with preview thumbnails and captions.
- Inline, multi-media commenting – text, video and audio – with easy publisher moderation.
- “Follow me” email subscription to future shows by any publisher.
Here’s an example of the player in action:
Thanks for the coverge, James! This particular channel you embedded probably best shows off the new player in the second show in the channel better than the first, but this channel doesn’t have a lot of multi-item shows in it. That’s when you can see the item level navigation and thumbnail previews best. The contact juggling channel we’ve got on our front page, http://splashcastmedia.com is a particularly good example of the slickest looking functionality.
Thanks again for the write-up, we hope that lots of audio and video podcasters will find these changes helpful. SplashCast is a good way to display your podcasts on your site. See the sidebar of http://ihearofsherlock.com for a good example of a sidebar audio podcast player using SplashCast.
