iTrips Now Legal In UK
Dec 11th, 2006 | By James Lewin | Category: iPod AccessoriesAs of Dec 8th, Griffin’s iTrip FM and similar portable FM transmitters became legal in the United Kingdom.¬†
Previous legislation designed to curb pirate radio stations disallowed the devices use in the UK. The law prohibited the iTrip from transmitting music from an iPod to any FM radio. Ofcom, the United Kingdom’s Office of Communications, has implemented the Wireless Telegraphy Exemption, effectively lifting the ban on FM Transmitters.¬†
Alex Birch, iTrip product manager at Griffin Technology, said, “The approval of iTrip use gives UK drivers some new options for playing music in the car. There’s zero installation and they’re easy to use.”
