Kenpo (Flash site) has introduced 15 new designs for its line of “smart-jackets” that feature iPod controls embedded into the cloth.
Kenpo‚Äôs 2006 line-up of iPod enabled jackets include bubble jackets, sprinter‚Äôs jackets, snowboarding jackets and windbreakers. The jackets are designed to let users listen to and change their tunes using the integrated iPod control panel located on the lower portion of each jacket’s sleeve. Wearers can pause, skip tracks and adjust volume, while leaving their iPod in the jacket’s inner padded pouch.
Kenpo’s line of jackets employs ElekTex patented “smart fabric” touch pad technology to transform the sleeve into a 5-button control panel for use with all iPod models (expect for the iPod Shuffle). The fabric interface utilizes touch-sensitive buttons that are identical to those found on an iPod, meaning wearers can play, pause, track forward, track back, and change the volume levels without ever removing their iPod from the padded interior pocket.
The jackets are machine washable and require no batteries.Kenpo’s Jacket for iPod is available in 15 men’s and women‚Äôs styles, has a suggested retail price range depending on style from $89 to $189.
