The latest episode of the Vallejo, CA Times Herald podcast features a discussion with Isabella Lamb (MP3), described as “the first candidate to unofficially enter the 2040 presidential race.” Lamb is planning to run on the platform “Make Cupcakes, Not War”.
Isabella plans to run on kindergarten values, as detailed on her Web site, such as play nice, don’t cheat, don’t fight and don’t lie. The first-grader launched her campaign last month, complete with an Internet blog, bumper stickers, pins – and plenty of cupcakes.
According to her parents, Lamb’s “campaign” started with a ruler.
“She has a ruler that has all the presidents, and she got kind of interested in that and started asking questions,” said father and campaign manager Paul Lamb. “It was a group effort. Isabella said she wanted to be president. We asked her why, and she said she wanted to be in charge. We thought it would be a creative way to assist her and give her an early start in politics.”
By the November 2040 election, Isabella will be 40, old enough to run for the highest office. Article 2, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution states a presidential candidate must be at least 35.
