Apple vs War on Terror #2: Mac Laptops May be Banned from Use Planes
Aug 28th, 2006 | By James Lewin | Category: GeneralApple’s notebook computers could be banned from use on planes because of the potential for their batteries to overheat, which can lead to laptops that catch on fire or explode.Quantas Airlines is considering banning the use of Mac laptops in flight.
“We have put limitations on Dell computers and at this stage we are awaiting further information from Apple,” said a Quantas spokesman.
The company is seeking further information on the precise risk posed by the batteries in Apple PowerBooks and iBooks, and whether they pose the same risk as Dell computers.
Apple recently announced a recall affecting nearly two million Mac laptops because of the problem.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has information on the recall.

This issue is out of date and as with the Dell laptops, consumers have been notified.
If you owned a laptop, wouldn’t you get this resolved before the problem caused you grief? These items are not cheep to buy.
The company I work for made sure all laptops our Engineers and Sales people had assigned to them were checked out.
I would imagine any other business would do the same.
