Appcasting = Distributing Applications with Podcasts
Aug 6th, 2006 | By James Lewin | Category: GeneralAudio Engineering is distributing a free audio loop editing program, Loop Editor, using a variation on podcasting, appcasting.Loop Editor is a simple (and free) audio loop editor application for OS X. Loop Editor supports all audio file formats that support loop markers.
The idea behind appcasting is that RSS newsfeeds with enclosures are used to let you subscribe to an application, so that you’ll know when the latest version of the program is available. You can even have it automatically downloaded, like you would a podcast.
You can find more information on appcasting at the Connected Flow site, along with a list of available appcasts. Developers may also be interested in Andy Matuschack’s Sparkle framework for appcasting.
