Mainstream Media Following Vloggers’ Lead
Aug 5th, 2006 | By James Lewin | Category: Video Podcasts, VlogsThe Washington Post has announced a video mashup contest, the WashingtonPost.com Video Mash-Up, following the lead of vloggers and video podcasters that have encouraged mashups or remixes of their videos.
Earlier in the year, for example, Rocketboom published a kit for making video mashups. The DIY Amanda Dinner & a Website kit featured video of former host Amanda Congdon engaging in half of a conversation, so that anyone could edit in content to create their own versions.
The Post is inviting people to create video mashups featuring Post political reporter Dana Milbank, above. Anyone can download and edit Milbank’s questions as an MPEG2 video clip. Email finished mash-up clips to the post via their site.
The Post plans to will post all videos submitted that meet the requirements and will give viewers the opportunity to comment and rate the videos.
