Gnomedex Update: Sex & Widgets
Jul 1st, 2006 | By James Lewin | Category: Podcasting Events, StrangeSusan Mernit led a discussion of sex, relationships and widgets at the 2006 Gnomedex conference, being held June 29 to July 1 in Seattle, Washington.
Mernit discussed how, after going through the breakup of a long-term marriage, she turned to the Internet in order to deal with sex and new relationships. She began by talking about some of the sites that she found helpful or interesting (a list is available at her site.)
Then she led a discussion about sexuality and blogging, and the issues that come with mixing the two. While some bloggers are comfortable with sharing their most intimate thoughts or actions, the discussion also touched on how some bloggers will use the privacy afforded by blogging to discuss things they might not be comfortable talking about otherwise.Best quote from the discussion: “The difference between porn and erotica is that porn pays 10 times better.”
