PodTech.net was unresponsive for much of the morning yesterday, as word of “Microsoft Geek Blogger” Robert Scoble’s move to the company made its way from the blogosphere to mainstream media. PodTech has officially announced Scoble’s hiring, revealing that Scoble will be joining the company as Vice President of Media Development.

A common question that is popping up regarding Scoble’s move is “What’s PodTech?” By hiring Scoble, PodTech is moving to quickly change that question to “What’s PodTech doing?”

‚ÄúI‚Äôve seen the power of this new media, and how fast audiences can grow,” said Scoble. “Out of all the companies I‚Äôve been watching, PodTech.Network is best positioned to take advantage of the rapid growth that I‚Äôm seeing in this marketplace and I‚Äôm thrilled to join this team.”

At Microsoft, Scoble maintained the popular blog, Scobleizer. Scoble also recently completed the book Naked Conversations: How Blogs Are Changing the Way Businesses Talk With Customers.“Robert Scoble is a global brand and we are thrilled to have him as a member of the PodTech team,” said John Furrier, founder and CEO of PodTech.Network, Inc. “He is a pioneer in blogging and social media. His knowledge of new media, the tech industry, and his success as a blogger fits perfectly with PodTech’s vision and mission.”

PodTech is a podcasting startup founded by John Furrier, host of the InfoTalk podcast, which focuses on technology and Silicon Valley. The company is expanding rapidly, with plans to become a media content network. PodTech recently raised $5.5 million in venture capital.
