After his 500th episode, Vobes plans to slow down a little.”Everybody needs a rest,” says Vobes, “and I’m looking forward to having weekends off. But I’ll continue every weekday, Monday to Friday, regular as clockwork. The show must go on!”

Regular guests on the Richard Vobes Radio Show include his three children, including his teenage daughter Georgie who pops in with her Useless Facts, and his best mate Jimmy with his beer reviews every Friday.

Vobes likes to get out and about, recording features as he goes. He won the Sound Seeing Award in the 2005 Podcast Awards for his audio guides of interesting places to visit, including historic manor houses and a tea bag factory.

This month (May 2006), listeners paid for Richard and his pal Jimmy to go on a two-week trip to the USA, where they followed “Route 66” from Chicago down to St. Louis, and then on to Texas. Richard kept his radio show going every day of the journey, recording audio travelogues with tour guides, local residents and fans of his show, posting photos up on his website and even broadcasting live with webcams from listeners’ basements.
