May 23rd, 2006 | By James Lewin | Category: Audio Podcasting, Computer Hardware, How to Podcast, iPods & Portable Media PlayersApple has introduced a free program to let kids learn podcasting with GarageBand this summer, Apple Camp.
The day “camps” at Apple stores promise to let kids geek out, making music, movies, podcasts or websites using Mac computers and iLife software.Workshops are geared towards kids with intermediate computer skills. The camps are free, but require registration.
All “campers” will receive a t-shirt, patch, field journal, field guide, bumper sticker, name tag, and a certificate of achievement. This is a smart move by Apple. It offers a great opportunity to introduce kids to personal media creation, while highlighting many of the things that differentiate Macs from run-of-the-mill PCs.Space is limited. Register via the Apple site.
