How Amazon Gets Buzz From Bloggers

KindleWonder why the Amazon Kindle is getting so much attention from top bloggers today?

A lot of people are scratching their heads on this, wondering why so many a-list blogs are jazzed about an expensive, ugly device that lets you buy expensive DRM’d content.

A device that’s kind of like a first-generation Zune for ebooks.

“Thanks Amazon for all the cash!”

So why all the love from top bloggers? Maybe it’s because Amazon’s paying them.

Here’s what Scobleizer’s Robert Scoble has to say about the deal:

“If you buy a Kindle and you buy my blog….I get 30%,” he notes. “Thanks Amazon for all the cash!”

Here are a few of the blogs that you can pay to view on the Kindle:

These blogs and many more (list) can anticipate getting a nice chunk of change if the Kindle is successful.

Maybe they should be as nice as Scoble and thank Amazon for all the cash! What do you think?

This would be funny if it weren’t scary.

What gets me is that these guys get worked up until they’re blue in the face over being transparent….except when they’re getting slipped the money.

  2. […] How Amazon Gets Buzz From Bloggers Kein Wunder – Amazon bezahlt die Blogs! Man kann Blogs mit dem Kindle abonnieren, muss daf√ºr aber bezahlen. Ausgerechnet BoingBoing im Kreis zu sehen tut schon richtig weh… (tags: netbib) […]

  3. Prospero says:

I can’t understand why BoingBoing joins the queue. You can only read DRM-Files on this Kindle-Device – even if you only want to read a doc.-file you have to send it to Amazon and pay! for! the! process!
It’s a shame that BoingBoing who was always for open system is now shakeld into the DRM-world…

  4. Adrian Moss says:

Non disclosure of any financial or business relationship will be illegal under EU Directive 2005/29/EC which should be in force in all member states by next month. If not covered under Article 5, 6 or 7 it will fall foul of Clause 11 in Annex 1.

‘Using editorial content in the media to promote a product where a trader has paid for the promotion without making clear in the context or by images or sounds clearly identifiable by the consumer (advertorial).’

Any blogger not declaring contractual or financial relationships will be committing a breach.

Scooble should be OK as he declared. The others….uum….

Each member state will set its all penalties.

    Spoof bloggers beware!

  5. […] Update: It looks like not even paying bloggers to hype the Kindle is enough to generate positive buzz for the Amazon Kindle. “I can‚Äôt really recommend this,” writes Robert Scoble. “Whoever designed this should be fired and the team should start over.” Rate This Post: (1 votes, average: 4 out of 5) Bookmarking links:       Related Topics: Amazon, closed system, Kindle, Steven Levy Related articles: How Amazon Gets Buzz From Bloggers, Amazon Kindle Ebook Reader Needs Podcasting To Succeed, Five Reasons You Won’t Use Amazon MP3…..Yet, Amazon Announces iTunes-Killer MP3 Store, Amazon Launches Podcast Network […]
